Set Dressing
Set dressing is the process of placing and arranging props and elements within a scene to bring it to life. It involves positioning objects like furniture, plants, and vehicles to create a believable, lived-in environment that supports the story and adds context.
Props, Furniture, and Plants: These elements help create a sense of a lived-in world. Items such as chairs, tables, plants, and other household or environmental objects are placed in the scene to enhance realism and immersion.
Vehicles: Vehicles can be added to set dressing to reflect the setting's environment, time period, and functionality, whether it's a car in a modern city or a futuristic vehicle in a sci-fi world.
Story-Driven Design: Set dressing also follows the narrative, where objects in the scene support or reflect the story. For example, a cluttered desk might suggest a character's chaotic lifestyle, while a clean, orderly space could reflect a different personality or setting.
