6.1  Scene Planning

Scene Planning establishes the visual and narrative intent for each scene before any storyboard panels are created. It is the bridge between the screenplay and the shot list.

• Scene Objectives: What must this scene accomplish narratively?

• Emotional Beats: The emotional arc within the scene, mapped to moments.

• Shot Count Estimate: How many shots does this scene need?

• Visual and Audio Context: Environment reference, lighting intent, music mood, and pacing.

Put it into practice

Open each scene in Ordinary Animator and complete the planning fields: objectives, emotional beats, shot count, visual summary, and audio atmosphere.
