Expressions
Expression definitions are a key part of character animation, allowing for predefined facial expressions or custom emotions based on blend shape weights. These expressions help bring the character to life by adjusting the character's facial features based on context.
Default Expressions in VRoid Studio: VRoid Studio provides a set of default expressions, such as happy, sad, or surprised, that can be used out of the box.
Adding Custom Expressions: You can extend the default set of expressions by adding additional expressions. Using Ordinary Animator, you can define your own expressions by setting blend shape weights to control the facial features.
Texture Tiling for Expressions: Ordinary Animator also allows you to replace default textures with tiled textures for facial effects like blushing and altering the visual appearance of the eyes, enhancing expression variety.
Update or add expressions for an imported VRoid Studio model.
Open up your VRM 1.0 character model.
Identify the list of built in expressions, such as "smile" and "angry".
Add a new expression, such as "Snear", from an existing facial preset file.
Add a facial present file including multiple facial expressions.
Adjust the blend shape weights for the various blend shapes as required to achieve the desired facial expression.
Decide if texture changes are also required (such as "blush").
Create a new tiled texture file for textures to be updated.
Repeat the texture file, then add the texture file with tiling size.
