2.2  Character Relationships

Character relationships map the dynamic between important pairings in your cast. These dynamics — allies, rivals, romantic tension, mentor/student — are the engine of most story conflict. Defining them up front helps the AI tools suggest realistic dialogue and flag inconsistent behaviour.

In Ordinary Animator, you can create a relationship swimlane on the project timeline and add one arc per important pairing. Each arc captures the nature of the relationship and how it is expected to evolve across the season.

Put it into practice

Identify every important character pairing in your major cast and add a relationship row for each. Note the current dynamic and any planned evolution over the course of the series.
